You can’t go anywhere without hearing the word CBD, especially in the health and wellness industry, but what is it and what does it do?
What is CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, and is one of the major cannabinoids (approx. 313 found cannabinoids are known to exist) found in the cannabis plant. Produced from industrial hemp and extracted using a CO2 process; CBD is the end result. Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, is the crystalline compound that is the main active ingredient of cannabis, which is the illegal product of the cannabis plant.
How does CBD work?
CBD binds to receptors found in the human endocannabinoid system which is in almost every cell of the body and brain. This is why it can help to alleviate a wide range of ailments.
Is CBD Legal?
Yes. CBD is now legal everywhere apart from Slovakia. Due to some confusion about not being able to classify it as legal medicine or a food supplement, the Slovakian government decided to classify CBD as a psychoactive substance.
Will CBD get you high?
No. THC is the primary psychoactive compound that has the ability to get you high and is used in marijuana. This is removed for CDB production.
What is the difference between hemp and Marijuana?
Marijuana contains THC which is the psychoactive element, whereas our products contain 0% CBD, therefore have no psychoactive value.
Are the products lab tested?
Yes, all of the products that we supply are lab tested.
What is CDB used for?
There are many benefits to using CBD and each individual that uses CBD is different. As the product is relatively new, scientific research is in its infancy as to the broad benefits that it can help with.
Typically, customers experience the following:
- Pain relief, including muscle aches and nerve pain.
- Reduction in symptoms related to mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, even schizophrenia.
- Alleviation of certain cancer related symptoms.
- Help to quell the side effects of cancer treatments including nausea.
- May have neuroprotective properties.
- May help with heart and circulatory conditions.
- Helps to improve with sleep/insomnia.
How do you use CBD?
There are various options available. Tincture can be used 1-2 times a day ie morning and evening but putting a whole pipette under the tongue or added to a meal or drink. The roll on can be applied to the problematic area and a vape pen is inhaled.
Are there any negative side effects?
As with any natural product, some may experience side effects particularly if taking some anti-depressants, pain, seizure or diabetic medication as they may react to some CBD products.
We advise that you speak to a medical professional before taking CBD and only take products that come from a reliable source. Unfortunately, there are products out there that are not up to regulatory standard or strength. Do your due diligence before choosing where you purchase.
Side effects may include:
- Diarrhea
- Change in appetite
- Weight loss/gain
- Fatigue / drowsiness
Is CBD a cure all?
CBD isn’t a cure for everything; however, it can help with many ailments. For short term injury or pain, the sufferer may find that after a while, their symptoms ease, often significantly. Always consult a medical professional to ensure that CBD will work in combination with any current medication that you may be taking.
Can I take CBD for a prolonged length of time?
It is not suggested that you take CBD long term and should be used when needed. Long term use could result in building up a resistant to its benefits.
How long does CBD stay in your system?
A small single dose will remain in your system to 24-48 hours. A higher dose can remain in your body for up to seven days however the effect of CBD won’t last the entire week.
Does CBD show up on a drug test?
CBD shouldn’t show up on a test however if there are trace amounts of THC it may show up. This very much depends on the products quality and ingredients.
How much CBD should I take?
Each individual will have a different tolerance. We suggest taking a half dose in the first instance and see how you feel, then increase the dose gradually.
Is CBD safe for children?
Never give to a minor without first seeking professional advice.
If the oil gets darker, is it still okay to use?
Yes. With exposure to light and oxygen the oil will most likely get darker but will not change its effectiveness.
Can I take CBD when pregnant?
No. CBD is not recommended if you are trying to become pregnant or you are preganant.
